What is Headphones ?

Headphones are a pair of small loudspeaker drivers worn on or around the head over a user's ears.

What is earphones ?

Earphones small loudspeaker held or worn close to the listener’s ear or within the outer ear. Common forms include the hand-held telephone receiver; the headphones, in which one or two earphones are held in place by a band worn over the head; and the plug earphone, which is inserted in the outer opening of the ear. 

What is headset ?

A headset is a headphone combined with a microphone. Headsets provide the equivalent functionality of a telephone handset with hands-free operation.

Headphones/earphones are classified in different ways.

Now let's have a look on all these types of headphones/earphones.

Wired Headphones/Earphones

In this type of headphones/earphones wires are provided to connect them with your device and they also have a 3.5 mm pin.

These types of headphones/earphones comes in all types of ear fitting and also with built in mic or without mic.

Wireless Headphones/Earphones

In this type of headphones/earphones the connection with your device is made by the help of Bluetooth. 

They have in build battery of some mAh and we have to charge, for that they have the USB C type port or Micro USB port. 

These comes in all types of ear fitting but if you purchase headphones then they may or may not have built in mic but if you purchase earphones then you will get with mic.

Exception :-

These days some headphones comes with both wire & wireless technology, you can use one at a time.

If you want to use them as wired then just put cable in, if you want to use them as wireless just remove that cable.

And wireless earphones are of two types -

1. True wireless

2. Wireless Earphones (Neckband)

True Wireless 

These types of earphones don't have any wire, and connected with the help of Bluetooth with your device that's why named as true wireless.

They comes in a case, you have to put them in the case for charing and you also need to charge that case too.

Wireless Earphones (Neckband)

In these earphone you will find wires but it connects with your device with the help of Bluetooth.

You have to put them around you neck that's why also popularly known as neckband.

Both the earbuds have magnet, you can stick them when not in use and some neckband have magnetic ON OFF, which turns ON & OFF earphones.

The battery backup is dependents on battery capacity & volume of sound/music.
